This work marked the most significant effort during a period when the Microsoft Office suite was being reinvented from the ground up. Previously, individual apps like PowerPoint, Word, and Excel each had their own distinct expression. Developing a unified vision for this portfolio of productivity tools provided the foundation for a subscription model that was both more viable for the business and easier for customers to manage. Working with a team of five, we redefined the principles for photography, imagery, and brand voice.
The journey wasn't easy; it required company wide alignment, and laddering up to the brand strategy. Areas such as photography came with a radical change in art direction. The visual design approach we took was one of timeless, classical graphic design, where type, layout and simple forms would prove to be effective and elegant.
Once the direction was established, I led packaging, illustration, iconography, photography and marketing efforts.
