Brand design and creative direction for a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting forests through sustainable thinning practices and public education. The project emphasizes raising awareness about forest health, fire prevention, and ecological balance, translating complex concepts into engaging visuals and experiences. Supported by the University of California, Santa Cruz, the initiative combines research, stories, and design to inspire action and foster a deeper connection between communities and their natural landscapes.
The challenge was to communicate the purpose in an optimistic yet firm and direct way. The outcomes of climate change in relation to forestry management are exponentially significant. I proposed a clean design, with strong copy writing and design elements that symbolize the health as well as the vulnerability of forests in California, and elsewhere.
I created concepts for interactive experiences at airports and galleries, where the audience could simulate different outcomes by changing the parameters of forestry management, and the demand for thin wood material that otherwise has little demand.
